The Network State by Balaji book summary
As always with Balaji … be prepared to be blown away.
I get that Network States are the direction where we are moving towards as a society, Not sure it is where we will end.
Balaji is an optimist, a sentiment I mostly agree with but in this case I think he’s overly optimistic about the possibility of Network States.
It’s true, we are already living on the precursors of Network States but I don’t think we will see a recognized Network State in the next 20 years.
The Status Quo is strong and it will fight back.
The book is intense with lots of thought provoking content so I highlighted just a few paragraphs in 4 different areas:
- Bitcoin and blockchain
- Journalism, reporters and the establishment
- Easy life creates weak men
- Paradigm shift
These are my highlights and notes:
On bitcoin and blockchain:
Bitcoin and blockchain in general may be the answer to some of society’s big problems “So, how could someone in the future (or even the present) know if a particular event they didn’t directly observe was real? The Bitcoin blockchain gives one answer”
